For most college students, graduating with the degree in hand is enough of an accomplishment. But Lance Nitahara will leave the CIA in November with a fistful of professional certifications, too: Certified Pastry Culinarian (ACF), Certified Chef De Cuisine/PCII (ACF, CIA), and now—following a four-day exam he took the week of August 25—Certified Executive Chef. He plans to take his Certified Master Chef exam within the next 10 years. Read Story >

Dunkin' Brands, Inc. Pledges $1 Million to Elevate Latin American Cuisine
With its pledge of $1 million to The Culinary Institute of America (CIA), Dunkin' Brands, Inc. becomes a founding donor of the college's "El Sueño" initiative. The Dunkin' Brands gift, to be paid over five years beginning in 2009, will support baking and pastry kitchens at both the CIA's new campus in San Antonio, TX and main campus in Hyde Park, NY.

CFA Becomes a CIA Branch Campus
In 2007, Philanthropist Kit Goldsbury made a ground-breaking pledge of up to $35 million to the CIA for scholarships and facilities to support El Sueño, the dream that he and the CIA share to use research and education to elevate Latin American cuisines to their rightful place among the great cuisines of the Americas.

First San Antonio Students Transfer to Hyde Park
